Start by pressing the tofu for 15 minutes prior to adding the marinade.

Mix up the marinade while the tofu is pressing.

After pressing the tofu, slice it into ¼ inch slices and then into 1 inch square or rectangle pieces.

Place the tofu in a container with a secure and tight fitting lid and add the marinade. Turn the container around to cover all the tofu with the marinade. Let it sit in the marinade for 15 minutes.

Place half the coconut in a blender and pulse it to chop into a fine consistency.

Combine the cornstarch, panko, black sesame seeds and the blended and unblended coconut together and mix it up.

Place the breading mixture on a plate and dip the pieces of marinated tofu in the breading, turning it to cover all the sides and edges of the tofu.

Lay the tofu out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Cook at 400° F for 20 minutes. Turn over the pieces of tofu halfway through the cook time.
