Make lentil sliders for your next burger night or game day event at home! The patties for the sliders uses mostly pantry items and they mix up quickly and easily. Vegan sliders are fun way to serve up a great tasting burger meal.
Place the lentils in a pot, cover with water about 1 ½ inch above the lentils. Cover with lid, bring to a boil then reduce the heat and cook for 20 minutes or until the lentils are tender.
When cooked, remove from heat, drain and allow to cool slightly.
After cooling, transfer about ⅔ of the mixture to a blender or food processor and puree.
Place the lentils and puree in a large mixing bowl.
Make the burger mixture
Place the chia in 3 tablespoons water, mix well and let sit for five minutes.
Add the garlic powder, onion powder and cumin to the lentils. When the chia is ready, add it to the mixture. Stir to combine well. Taste and add the salt and pepper as desired.
Add the oats to the lentils and mix until thoroughly combined.
Place into the refrigerator to sit for at least 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350° F.
Use a scale to measure out into 2 ounce patties. Place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet close together but not touching.
When all the burgers are made, place into the oven to cook for 20-25 minutes. Turn over halfway through the cooking time to crisp up both sides.
Serve up with lettuce, tomato, pickle and onions!

This recipe makes about 10-11 2-ounce patties. Nutrition is based on 2 sliders per serving.Expert Tips for Vegan Sliders:Don’t overcook the lentils. If too soft you will end up with mushy patties.Don't undercook the lentils. If the lentils aren't soft enough the burgers become more crumbly.Use some pressure when forming the patties to squeeze everything together.Only puree ⅔ of the cooked lentils. Leaving about ⅓ of the lentils intact gives the sliders some texture.Don't skip the "resting" time. As the lentil burgers chill, they firm up a little more which makes them stick together easier when you form them into patties.
