Ingredients
14 ouncepackage extra-firm tofufirm will also work but may take longer to cook
Open tofu package and drain off water. Allow it to sit in a strainer while you make the marinade
14 ounce package extra-firm tofu
Mix all other ingredients together in bowl to create a paste.
2 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil, 1 teaspoon mild chili powder, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, ½ teaspoon onion powder, ½ teaspoon smoked paprika, 2 tablespoon nutritional yeast
Once tofu has drained, crumble it up into small pieces.
Mix together paste and tofu until all of the tofu is coated.
Coat a baking sheet with non-stick spray or with a light brush of oil.
Evenly spread out tofu on pan and place tofu into a 400° F oven.
Cook tofu for 25-30 minutes. Stirring every 10 minutes or so to move the tofu around on the pan. Watch it closely after 20 minutes as it may cook faster than the allotted time and you don’t want it to burn. Cook it longer for a crispier texture.
Air Fryer Tofu Crumbles
Crumble and add the seasoning as above. Spread the tofu out in the air fryer basket without the grate if possible. Cook at 325° F for 15 minutes without a preheat. Open up the air fryer and move the crumbles around every five minutes.

Notes
Baking or the air fryer gives the best texture, though stovetop cooking is an option but takes much longer.
Adjust cook time for desired crispiness—less time for a softer texture.
Use a large sheet pan to spread the tofu out for even cooking and crispiness. If using an air fryer, cook in batches if needed.
When making ahead of time for meal prep, I recommend undercooking it slightly since it will continue cooking and get crispier during reheating.
